SOLO EXHIBITION
Once he was here.
An exhibition about memory and the feeling of losing the one you loved.
Void, blurry, constantly moving, foggy, like the changing of lights and shadows, what does memory feel like to you?
With analog film, overhead and digital projections, I’d like to create an immersive environment of the unexplainable feelings I have of losing my father.
Welcome to walk through and touch the fabrics and look around at your own pace, take your time to feel it.
============================================================================
The purpose of this exhibition was to create a space, so people could walk in and be surrounded by the dreamy atmosphere.
Different from a short film, installations allowed people to experience and feel them at their own pace.
In this exhibition, I used three different kinds of projector to build the space. Which were a 16mm analog projector, an overhead projector and two digital projectors.

The sense of missing just like water.
It could be calm and still like nothing ever happened.
It could also be triggered by any kind of intervention, intensely or gently, even just by very slightly blowing wind.
The water drops from time to time as the emotions, come in waves randomly.
Feel free to touch, stir or create any kind of vibration to water.
Doing multiple prints and exposure on copy film, I tried to shape the analog materials to fit my goal for 4 evenings in the dark room. I got frustrated, because it could never work like how I imagined.
But maybe it’s just like memory and life, sometimes I just shouldn’t try to control them. When I take it easy and look at it from a different sight, they actually surprised me in a different way.
